Irrigation Las cruces Systems: Installation, Repair & Smart Controllers
Built for Desert Soil, Monsoon Swings, and the City’s Watering Rules. Las Cruces isn’t an easy place to keep a landscape watered right. Caliche soil, nearly 300 days of sun, sudden monsoon downpours, and a city ordinance that dictates exactly when you can water all work against a poorly designed system. We build and repair irrigation systems that work with this climate, not against it.
Everything Your System Needs, In One Call
From brand-new installs to same-day repairs, every service is built around Las Cruces soil, sun, and water rules.
Sprinkler System Installation
New spray and rotor systems sized and zoned for turf areas, built to hold up against sun and wind.
Drip Irrigation Design & Installation
Root-zone watering for beds, trees, and xeriscape β no runoff, no wind drift, no wasted water on rock or hardscape.
Irrigation Repair
Cracked lines, broken heads, faulty valves, stuck solenoids β diagnosed and fixed, any brand, any system age.
Smart Wi-Fi Controllers
Weather- and evapotranspiration-based scheduling that keeps your system compliant with the city’s watering days automatically.
Spray-to-Drip Conversion
Convert old spray zones now covered in rock or xeriscape into efficient drip lines off the same valve.
Seasonal Maintenance & Winterization
Spring startup, mid-season checks, and fall blowouts before the first freeze.
Commercial Irrigation
Two-wire decoder systems, backflow prevention, and water-budget-conscious design for HOAs and commercial properties.
Why Proper Irrigation Matters Here
Las Cruces sits on dense caliche clay that doesn’t drain like normal soil. Water pools instead of soaking in, so a sprinkler head aimed even slightly wrong can flood one corner of your yard while the rest stays dry.
Monsoon season, usually July through September, adds another layer. A single afternoon storm can dump more water than a week of scheduled irrigation. A system that doesn’t account for that either overwaters saturated ground or runs cycles nobody needed.
Wind off the Organ Mountains foothills is a factor too. Standard spray heads can throw water sideways off target on open lots in East Mesa and Sonoma Ranch, watering sidewalks instead of turf.
City Watering Ordinance
Outdoor watering runs on a fixed schedule by address: even-numbered addresses water Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays; odd-numbered addresses water Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays. From April 1 to September 30, watering is only allowed before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m., and no watering on Mondays. A system built without this schedule in mind isn’t just inefficient β it’s a liability.
Caliche Soil
Dense clay layers cause pooling and uneven coverage without proper zoning.
Monsoon Swings
Sudden storms can out-water a week of scheduled cycles in one afternoon.
Wind Exposure
Open East Mesa & Sonoma Ranch lots see drift off standard spray heads.
Fixed Watering Days
Address-based schedule enforced citywide, year-round.
Common Irrigation Problems in Las Cruces
Most calls we get fall into one of these eight categories β here’s what’s usually behind them.
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Broken sprinkler heads | UV exposure makes plastic brittle over time | Head replacement, UV-rated |
| Leaking pipes | Ground shift over caliche stresses joints | Line repair / reroute |
| Faulty valves | Grit and mineral content prevent proper seating | Valve rebuild / replace |
| Uneven watering | Misaligned heads, clogged nozzles, long zones | Re-aim, clean, or re-zone |
| Low water pressure | Clogged filter, too many heads per zone, partial main valve closure | Pressure diagnostic + rebalance |
| Controller resets | Power outage wipes the program | Battery backup + reprogram |
| Clogged drip emitters | Regional hard water leaves mineral buildup | Emitter flush / replace |
| Spray drift | Wind pushes water off target on open lots | Low-angle nozzles / drip conversion |
